Welcome to the Faroe Islands, home to Vágar Airport - the only airport in the archipelago, located 1 NM east of Sørvágur. As the Faroe Islands are a self-governing territory, the airport falls outside EU regulations, and it serves as the main operating base for the Faroese national airline, Atlantic Airways. The approach is challenging due to the surrounding hills and frequent wind gusts, with regular traffic from A319/A320, B737, and BAe 146 aircraft, many operating as charters alongside the scheduled service.
