Riverside Municipal Airport ( ICAO: KRAL), is four miles (6 km) southwest of downtown Riverside, the county seat of Riverside County, California, USA.
The Riverside Municipal Airport is the busiest FAA Federal Contract Tower in the state of California (FAA fiscal year 2023-2024). The Riverside Municipal Airport ranks 116th out of 526 airports nationwide in total operations.
The airport covers 525 acres (212 ha) and has two runways.
KRAL remains cutting edge hosting 144,000 annual operations, annual special events, and is outfitted with an ILS (Instrument Landing System) and VOR (VHF Omnidirectional Radio). Runway 9/27 has a Visual Approach Slope Indicator and is 5,401 x 100 ft. (1,646 x 30 m). The crosswind runway 16/34, is suited for smaller aircraft. Runway 34 has a Precision Approach Path Indicator.
Riverside Municipal Airport has been home to Civil Air Patrol Squadron 5 since 2005. In 2013, FedEx Express, a cargo airline, donated a Boeing 727-200F to California Baptist University for its new aviation science program. The aircraft is on permanent display at the airport and provides a working laboratory for aviation science students.
